Proposed changes to the national minimum data set for social care (nmds-sc)

Proposed changes to the NMDS-SC are received by the NMDS-SC Data User Group. This group evolved from the Technical Stakeholder Group that did the original detailed work on developing the NMDS-SC, and is now made up of representatives of social care employers, the Department of Health, the Care Quality Commission (former CSCI), the Information Centre for Health and Social Care, the Local Government Association, the General Social Care Council, Skills for Care and other interested parties.

The Data User Group meets regularly to consider how best to use the NMDS-SC data for research and other purposes for the benefit of the social care sector. The group advises on potential changes to the data set and has recently consulted on a number of ‘request for change’ proposals. The reports on these consultations can be viewed in the nmds-sc resource section of nmds-sc online, follow the link below.

The next phase is to pilot the proposed changes to ensure they work well if implemented.
